Research Interests

Areas of academic and scientific interest involves Economics and Sociology, especially in the fields of Business Economics and Sociology of Organizations, as well as in Management with a special focus on public administration. It also includes in these diverse range already studied by the researcher: strategy and culture, corporate ethics and corporate governance, social responsibility of the organizations, restructuring and organizational innovation, labor and employment, professions of the future and management of competences, education and professional training, bullying and stress management, occupational safety and health.

Besides these interests, we must add some others based on experiences and practices developed in the past, namely research around new economic paradigms and wealth distribution, knowledge society and social relearning, institutional trust and public management, regional asymmetries and sustainable development, artificial intelligence systems and reconfiguration of jobs, among others.

Bio

PhD degree in Economics, after a degree in Sociology and a graduation in Intervention in Labor Organizations. He began in human resources management and training, held leadership positions in planning, management, organization and computing; he was financial director and later as a teacher, trainer and consultant in the fields of organizational innovation, institutional restructuring, socio-economic analysis, human resources management, working conditions, education, employment and training, social responsibility and corporate governance.
He held positions as director of projects for Organizational Innovation, university professor and coordinated post-graduations.
He participated in national and community programs in the Ministries of Employment and Economy and in the Office of the Prime Minister, integrating the coordination team of the Lisbon Strategy and the Corporate Governance Network.
He devoted himself to evaluation and research with a view to improving public and business policies and began activities in the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries in more than 50 strategic consultancy missions with ministers of science, education, employment, health and public administration reform in Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe.
He published more than a hundred technical and scientific works, delivered more than a hundred public speeches and was twice president of the Portuguese Association of Sociology of Organizations and Labor.
